Treetop Walkway Neuschönau
The treetop walkway in Neuschönau is an accessible treetop path that runs along a 1.3-kilometer-long walkway up to 25 meters above the forest floor and ends in a 44-meter-high observation tower. Visitors gain unique insights into the tree habitat, experience natural features such as suspension bridges, and can enjoy the view over the Bavarian Forest National Park. The walkway is open year-round and offers information about nature, its inhabitants, and the water cycle.

Cross-country skiing
In Spiegelau in the Bavarian Forest is the Spiegelau-Klingenbrunn-Oberkreuzberg cross-country skiing center, which offers various trails for classic and skating techniques. Part of the area is also a floodlit trail for evening skiing. Furthermore, Spiegelau is a starting point for the Bavarian Forest Trail, which runs through the entire Bavarian Forest.

In Schönberg in the Bavarian Forest, cross-country skiing enthusiasts will find an 8 km long circular trail that starts in Saunstein-Habernberg and offers a moderately difficult tour through the snow-covered landscape. There is also another trail in the nearby municipality of Eppenschlag.

Snowshoeing
In Spiegelau in the Bavarian Forest, you can participate in a guided snowshoe taster tour offered by the National Park Guided Tour Service. The tour lasts approximately three hours and leads through the snow-covered winter forest, focusing on experiencing nature. Registration is available online or at a tourist information office, and AktivCard holders can borrow snowshoes free of charge or directly from us.
